Our Story
Since registering in April 2022, GPS Drilling has been somewhat of a slow burn. The three partners, Shane, Pat and Grant had each been drilling for a number of top tier drilling companies for over a decade and decided it was time to take on a new challenge, with the aim to bring some new life and ideas into what is still considered by us to be a relatively untapped industry of Aircore drilling. A chance to bring our own fresh innovative ideas to the industry.
The first challenge faced was to find a suitable rig that could be engineered to the specific needs of our clients and set us apart from our competitors. We found it in the form of an Innovative explora 50 series rig on a low kilometre Mitsubishi Canter. A combination we consider the perfect size for shallow exploration programs under 130metres. We sought the services of a fantastic engineer based in East Gippsland with making the modifications necessary to convert the water boring rig into a very capable mobile aircore rig.
Once the rig was complete we set out to find the perfect support vehicles to compliment the rig and then search for work in areas for which the rig was purposely built.
A few months into our first contract and a few modifications along the way we realised the potential of our perseverance and found we had a system that is capable of producing what we initially set out to achieve. A system that produces a quality unbiased sample right from the top of the hole through every ground formation we have encountered so far.
Now we have found, secured and converted a second innovative explora 50 series rig with the same capabilities as the first. Giving us the ability to continue to expand our services and production capabilities for larger clients on tight production schedules or to give multiple clients an option to attain our services at the same time with equally capable rigs.
Our story is only short but it is one that we hope will show you we dont settle for mediocrity but set out to achieve a result that exceeds the expectations of those who seek our services.
